Windows 7 End of Life – Is it mandatory to upgrade on Windows 10.?

On January 14, Microsoft has ended up its support for the Windows 7. It was surely an emotional moment for most people to say a last goodbye to it. Users will no longer be able to receive further updates on Windows 7. Because Microsoft at this stage of the era, wants users to upgrade their OS on Windows 10. Windows 7 was no doubt the most stable & user friendly operating system. That’s why 39% of users are still using Windows 7 as their main operating system. Even Windows 10 took a span of almost 4 years to surpass its market shares. But now its time to say that its Windows 7 End of Life.

Microsoft released Windows 7 back in the year 2009. It was really a major upgrade over its predecessors containing a lot of new features and functionalities. Its mainstream support was ended in 2015, while the extended support ends a few days ago. Now, the end of Windows 7 life does not mean that you can’t use it from today. It only means that you will not receive any official update & support by Microsoft for this OS. Let’s discuss it the relevant factors and a need to upgrade on Windows 10.

Probably yes, Because if there is a newer version of any OS available. People must adapt it to stay updated with the latest features & support. Other than that, the end of Windows 7 life means that there is no more security check on it by Microsoft. You may be at the risk of viruses and malware anytime. So, for avoiding such happenings, it is necessary to update on Windows 10 or alternatives.

Microsoft has also released an update of notification to remind the users about updating on Windows 10. I personally suggest that if you have some plans to upgrade OS. Moving on Windows 10 would be suitable because it will keep your files, data & settings the same as these were on the previous OS. There is a technical method of upgrading Windows 7 on Windows 10 if you want to save your dollars. Follow the below steps,

  • First, Backup your data.
  • Then go to Windows 10 Download Portion.
  • Download the tool and run the file.
  • Select “Upgrade this PC” option.
  • It will ask you to keep your files as it is or go with a fresh installation.
  • Pass through all the options accordingly.
  • You are done now with the new Windows 10 OS.

Note that: Your data may be wiped out if you choose the fresh installation.
