Famous Pakistani cricketer and all-rounder Mohammad Hafeez has added another achievement to his cricket record. Hafeez has become the first male cricketer in T20I cricket to set a record of scoring 2,000 runs and taking 50 wickets in the shortest format of the game.
He attained this milestone during Pakistan’s 2nd T20I against England. He was playing the 89th inning of his career yesterday at Manchester. It was then that he smashed a six off Saqib Mahmood to reach the 2,000 runs mark. The 39-year old player, with already 54 T20I to his name, has become the first-ever player in T20I to have the double success of 2,000 runs and 50 wickets to his name.
However, three women cricketers have already reached this milestone. They are Deandra Dottin of West Indies, Sophie Devine of New Zealand, and Stafanie Taylor of West Indies. These three cricketers have already achieved the unusual double of 50 international wickets and 2,000 international runs in T20 cricket.
Hafeez is the only second cricketer and overall ninth batsman to achieve this T20I cricket record. Before this Shoaib Malik had attained a similar achievement by scoring 2335 runs in T20I cricket. Mohammad Hafeez has played in 93 international T20Is. And he is considered one of the most experienced players around the world in the T20 format game.
