Samsung’s T7 Touch External SSD with Fingerprint Security

The only two things that matter when it comes to improving external SSDs are; adding more storage and making the drives faster. Samsung’s new T7 Touch external SSD announced at the CES 2020 is a lot more creative. It complements a built-in fingerprint reader to secure the user’s files, additionally improving the usual transfer feed.

T7 Touch External SSD Features:

Following are some of the features of Samsung’s T7 Touch external SSD

Fingerprint Security

It is an excellent idea that provides the user with an option to protect their files with biometric security. Despite the fact that the laptop they’re using doesn’t have a fingerprint reader. Samsung states that the user can register up to four different fingerprints with the T7 Touch. It means that you can easily share the external SSD with friends or family members, anyone you want to.

Compact and Durable Design

Samsung’s T7 external drive has a solid aluminum chassis, which makes it drop-resistant up to two meters (about six and a half feet). Now, this is a real drop-resistant external SSD, but you probably shouldn’t intentionally test that out for yourself.

USB Cable Connection

There is also a single USB-C port that can be connected to either a USB-C to USB-A or USB-C to USB-C cable

Indicator Light added

An indicator light is another addition to the T7 Touch external SSD. The light shows when the drive is plugged in and actively transmitting data. This feature was inexplicably missing from the last generation but thanks to Samsung, now we have this indicator light feature.

Blazingly Fast Data Transfers

It’s not that Samsung has only added a fancy fingerprint sensor or done some cosmetic changes, but it also has improved the actual SSD here. The new T7 external drive is offering write speeds of up to 1,000MB/s and read speeds of up to 1,050MB/s.

The T7 Touch SSD will be on sale later this month and has a cost of $129.99 for a 500GB model, $229.99 for a 1TB of storage, and $399.99 for the 2TB version. A version of T7, without a fingerprint reader, the T7 is set to release in the second quarter of 2020.
